I thought it would be nice to kinda see who's who here in this tribe and get a little introductions going on here. So without further delay:

I VJ under the moniker of eNdo. I'm based in Phoenix, Arizona. I've been creating my own visuals using 3D Studio Max, After Effects and many other apps for about 6 years now. My rig consists primarily of a laptop running resolume, a behringer BCR2000 midi controller, and a Roland EF-303 Step Sequencer (also used to control midi). My main focus is visuals for Psytrance but I also really enjoy mixing to techno and breaks. You can check out some of my work here: www.youtube.com/profile

cheers!

well I'm not like a real VJ more like projectable online eyecandy I guess... hahaha

I was a fine artist but then got into doing random/generative animations for the internet in the 90's and had a phase where I got to project at a lot of major venues in a kind of net.art context and I have a big collection of eclectic bits and pieces I just keep remixing whilst hanging out online with the idea I was a kind of cybershaman...

in the past vj's have used some of my stuff in their sets using resolume etc...

I tended just to put in a CD and let the randomness play and then click sometimes if it gets boring or totally inappropriate...

my major ego massage was seeing my iconic baby head with psychedellic eyes huge over the festival of benicassim in 2000 on my 40th birthday... hahaha

haven't had any gigs for a few years now though... hahaha

    Hello Vj Rhett here,
I've done a few gigs on the west coast festival circuit and of course local events in Humboldt County, here in Nor Cal north of San Fransico behind the Redwood Curtain. currently I'm preparing my new demo DVD to send out over the next few weeks along with a new website. My style has been quickly evolving and my site has yet to reflect the new material. I aim to step up my presence and turn some heads this coming year. I'm happy with where I've been and what I've done but super ready to do more faster quicker hotter. It's a great time in history to be a VJ!

Bio and a few snippets from past gigs on my site.

    Hi,

I VJ under Disco Stu usually these days.
I create all of my content in Maya and AE. By day I am a freelance Maya jockey. Day job has been booming so I've not spent near as much time creating original content for my VJ sets as I would like. I've got an all night monthly now so that just won't cut it for long.

Big fun I've had is creating long form 4x1 over three screens material. Big fun is also had when I am just loving what the DJ is playing.

Oh, I'm in L.A.. Occasionaly I play in SF or SD or out at BM.

    be well

      Hey gang.

Satsi from SF here. I dj and vj, sometimes do both at the same time. I create content with Final Cut Pro, Artmatic, Combustion, and a few other secret squirrel ingredients. I also produce music with Logic, Ableton, and Reason. For live mixing, I keep it pretty simple: 1 V4, 2 dvd players, and Arkaos. Sometimes i'll get really jiggy and throw another V4 in the mix to either incorporate another VJ or more sources.

I gig quite a bit in San Francisco. Done some stuff at Burning Man over the last 10 years, but took this year off from vjing on the Playa to play more music.

Lately, i've been getting into the whole hex screen thing after jamming with some Canadians up at Symbiosis. I've got a busy NYE weekend quickly approaching...whew.

Hexagon Screens rock! Nice to see another utilizing them. Are you using KillingFrenzy's HexPatch built from Max/MSP? Good stuff! I've been meaning to build newer, more portable screens as my current ones are built from wood and take too long to assemble/disassemble.

I checked out the Killing Frenzy patch, but if I'm not mistaken, it requires a full version of MaxMSP, correct?? Or is just a runtime app? I don't want to have to buy MAX.That's too rich for my blood. I'm waiting for Dave at Inside Us All to get his FreeFrame plugins ported to Mac. He's got a great hex plugin that's in their plugin package.

For now, I'm just doing one image on the screens, but will soon be doing multi out once I have the software I need.

          Peace!

Oh no! You only need the runtime version of MaxMSP along with Jitter. The full version is only needed to create apps, not run them. The HexPatch is AMAZING. Its basically a video matrix with many many options to create all kinds of possibilities. Works great!

I too am about to purchase the freeframe plugin from IUA. I want somthing a little more simpler to run in Resolume because I'll be able to mix between files better. The hex patch allows for simple cross-fading but thats about it.

One setup I've been meaning to try is to run resolume on one PC, send the output into a second PC running the hexpatch (using camera live input) and process from there.

        err

        the hex thing

does putting any content on a non 4x3 formatted material make it cool?

it does! breaking out of the 4:3 box is refreshing and looks cool. Its not limited to hexagons though, you can also do circles. I'm doing a party this weekend where square screens will be turned on their corners to form diamonds. Should be interesting.

See, the hex patch software masks square video so that it fits the shape and size of the screens so as to not bleed over the edges.
